SRD R350 Application Status Check Online Mean? 

The SASSA status check for SRD (R350) results will be as follows:

  1. SASSA status Check approved: This Means that SASSA approved your application, and you can receive the monthly grant money. SASSA grant amount, Reference ID, and App ID will be displayed in the result.

 Check your SRD status through the SASSA official website; here are the steps for it:

 SASSA Status check Banking details

 If you are an SRD grant beneficiary and want to change or update your banking details. The process is different for permanent residents of South Africa and Asylum Seekers/unique permit holders.

Process For permanent residents: Follow these steps if you are a permanent resident of South Africa and want to change the SRD (r350) bank details;

  1. Go to SASSA’s official website https://srd.sassa.gov.za/. 
  2. Go to the “South African ID holders section” and click here to proceed button.
  3. You will find the “How to change my bank details” option; enter your 13-digit ID.
  4. You will receive an SMS link to the phone number that you submitted in the application.
  5. Click on the link to change your bank details and submit. Wait for the approval of bank details.

SASSA updates the information in seven business days. Once your SRD payment is approved, it will be transferred to your new bank account.

 Process for Asylum Seekers or special permit holders: Check the following steps to change bank details for the SRD grant:

  1. Go to SASSA’s official website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/. 
  2. Go to the Asylum Seekers or Special Permit Holders section. Select the “click here to proceed option.”
  3. A new page will open. Then scroll down to “Lookup Payment ID.” to collect payment at Pick ‘n Pay.”
  4. Put the File/passport number and the cell number that you submitted in the SASSA application.

Your information will be checked, and you will get instructions on how to proceed and update details, Change your bank details and wait for approval.

 There are multiple ways to check your SASSA balance online and offline:

  1. Via USSD Method: Dial *120*69277# or *120*3210# through Your phone. Follow the instructions step by step. Enter your ID and phone number, and you will get your balance details. 
  2. Via WhatsApp: Message on SASSA WhatsApp number +27820468553. Follow the steps, and they will share your SASSA balance. 
  3. VIA ATMs: This option is available for SASSA gold card holders. Insert your card into an ATM, enter a four-digit password, and select the balance check option to get information about your balance.
  4.  Via SASSA Office or Post Office: Contact your nearest SASSA office or post office, share your details, and they will send you your current balance.
  5. Balance check without Airtime: You can check your balance status without airtime at the nearest SASSA office or post office, where you can share the details described above.
  6.  Via Govchat: The South African Government also offers a Govchat platform where applicants can register themselves and check their balance. Type “status” in the message, and the official agent will share information about the balance. 

The easiest methods for checking the SASSA balance are the USSD and WhatsApp methods; depending on the network provider, the USSD method may cost a small fee.

Apply Process for SASSA SRD Grant

 SASSA provides multiple channels for the online application of SRD. You can apply through the SASSA official website, WhatsApp, or the SASSA Chabot. You need to choose only one application channel that is best for you; if you apply from multiple channels, SASSA administration may consider your application spam.

Steps for applying for the SRD Grant

  1. Phone number: Provide the active phone number registered in your name; this is the most crucial step in the process. You will receive all of your SASSA updates through this number.
  2.  Verify OTP: To verify your phone number, you’ll get an OTP (one-time password).
  3. Terms & Conditions: Next, you’ll have to accept SASSA’s terms and conditions. 
  4.  Personal information: Share the personal information required in the application. 
  5.  Banking details: Complete the banking details section of The application and upload copies of your South African ID or passport number and other documents that show your financial condition. 
  6.  Submit: Double-check all details and submit the application; track your application through SASSA status check and stay updated about the outcome.

 SASSA SRD (R350) declined

 SASSA has the authority to decline a grant application based on specific eligibility criteria determined through the SASSA Mean test. Before applying, check the SASSA eligibility criteria for SRD and make sure that you are qualified for it. The main reasons are as follows:

  • The monthly amount limit should be less than R624.
  •  Alternative source of income. 
  • If the person is deceased, according to the Department of Home (DHA) record.

 SASSA SRD Appeal Status Check

 If your R350 application has been declined, you can launch a SASSA appeal (within 90 days of rejection) to the Department of Social Development (DSD) to reconsider it.  They will check all information and ensure that SASSA gets all the information, and they will decide within 60-90 days.

  • Go to the Department of Social Development website: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/appeals. 
  • Navigate to “check the appeal status or lodge an appeal.” Share your South African ID and phone number. 
  •  Share your phone number and ID. 
  •  You will get a pin via SMS; share this pin on the website.
  •   Choose the month of your rejected SRD grant.

 SRD grant is provided to improve financial assistance by SASSA; if your financial condition is improving, you can cancel the SRD grant application because you will no longer be eligible for this grant. If your financial condition has improved and you don’t cancel the grant application, you may be charged with a criminal offense. In some cases, you may also not qualify for other social grants.

 Here are the steps to cancel your SRD grant application: go to the SASSA cancellation portal: https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/cancellation.  Share the South African ID and phone number that you submitted to the application.

  • Select the “Send Pin” option and verify OTP.
  • Click on the “Cancel My Grant option,” and you can cancel your SRD grant.
  • You will get a confirmation message from SASSA.
  • Your SRD grant will be canceled.

 Reinstate Your Canceled SASSA SRD Grant

 After the cancellation of the SRD grant, SASSA provides the opportunity to reinstate your canceled SRD grant. If you are facing financial hurdles and are not able to fulfill your basic needs, you can apply again for the R350 grant. SASSA will review your application, and it may take 7 to 14 days to approve your application.  Here are the steps for it:

  • Go to SASSA’s official site srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/reinstate.
  •  Share the phone number and South African ID. 
  • Click on the “Send Pin option,” and you will get an OTP. 
  • Verify the OTP and select the reason for reinstatement. 
  • Confirm the reinstatement and submit.

 SASSA provides multiple payment options for withdrawing grant money; you will get the grant money via the payment method you submitted in the SASSA SRD application. You can collect money through the Bank/ATM, SASSA card, or directly in cash. Check your SASSA status for each month, and you can collect money from the following methods:

  1. Via Bank/ATM: If you select the bank account method in the application registered in your name, SASSA directly deposits the grant in your bank account. You can easily collect from the ATM or directly from the Bank branch via check or ATMs. 
  2. Via SASSA Card: If you are a SASSA card holder, you can easily collect money from ATMs or stores registered with SASSA.
  3. In case you do not have a bank account or SASSA card, you can also visit the nearest Post Office branch (SAPO/Post Bank) or SASSA-partnered retail outlet (Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer, Checkers, Usave, Spar).
