- Visit the SASSA SRD Appeal Website; Visit the SRD appeal website.
- Enter Your Credentials; The appeal option will appear. Enter the ID number in the “South African ID of applicant” box and the phone number in the “Phone number used to submit your application” box, then click on the “send pin” box.
- Confirmation of Message: You will receive a PIN via SMS, enter the PIN on the website, and you will navigate to the appeal section.
- Applying for Monthly Reconsideration: You will get all the month’s records and choose the month you want to appeal for.
- Note: Every month, you will lodge a separate appeal for reconsideration.

1) Through SASSA Status Check online
Navigate to SASSA status check. Enter your credentials and click on the status check option. You will get the current status and processing time for the Appeal.
2) Through SMS
Send your 13-digit ID to 32573. You’ll receive a message with the status of your Appeal.
3) Through SASSA Hotline
Call the SASSA authorities at 0800 601 011. Share your ID and Appeal reference number. You will receive an appeal status notification.
SASSA SRD Appeal Declination Reasons
Your R350 Appeal can be rejected due to various reasons, which are the following;
- Failed identity verification: Your personal information in the application does not match that of the DHA (Department of Home Affairs).
- Existing grant: If you receive any other SASSA social grants during the time of the SASSA reconsideration, your Appeal will be rejected.
- Registered in NAFAS: If you are a beneficiary of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and receive any funds during the time of reconsideration, your Appeal will be rejected because of the alternative source of income.
- Registered in UIF: If you are enrolled in the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) program during the SASSA reconsideration period, your SRD appeal will be rejected, considering that you have another source of financial assistance. Gov payroll registered: If you have a job in any institution related to the government, your Appeal will be rejected.
- Age Limit: SASSA SRD grants have an age limit for applicants; if you are older than 60 years and younger than 18 years during the time of reconsideration, your Appeal will be rejected.
- Deceased Record on DHA: According to the DHA database record, the SASSA appeal will be rejected if the applicant is deceased.
